The Lamar Buffalo Ranch used to have a loud, nasty generator. It was located far off the grid in the backcountry of Yellowstone National Park. The only way to power the ranch's buildings, used to educate visitors and house rangers, was with gasoline or diesel generators.
The constant thundering rumble they made was out of keeping with the serenity of the park, and the pollution they created was out of keeping with the park's conservation ethic.
